Our Staff – Conscious Collaborators

Developing a true self-directed learning environment begins with our educators.

How We Learn

Rooted in Cognitive and Developmental Psychology, we hold a Constructivist Learning Theory in mind when carefully, and holistically developing our learning space. Learners actively build their knowledge through self motivated experiences and interactions. Just as it does with our Grounding Values, this model leads to deeper skills like problem-solving and critical thinking along with fostering deep understanding and application. Social/Emotional learning is integrated into every moment the child is at The Grove. Loving adults (CC’s) set the stage by rigorously modeling our Grounding Values and a Self-Governing Community leads to deep connection and character change.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is self-directed learning?

Self-directed learning is an educational approach where students take the initiative in their learning process. They set their own goals, choose their learning paths, and assess their progress, fostering independence and critical thinking skills.

What age groups do you serve?

We serve students from kindergarten through 12th grade, accommodating a wide range of developmental stages and learning needs. Our programs are designed to support each child’s unique journey through education.

Does The Grove accept the ESA Scholarship for $7K?

Yes, The Grove does accept the ESA scholarship. We use careful assessment methods and student feedback to ensure that we are not invasive in our collection of data. We also provide an annual standardized test, WRAT assessment, which is a nationally normed achievement test.

What are Conscious Collaborators?

Dr. Naomi Fisher, among many respected psychologists, highlights the disconnect between conventional schooling and healthy child development. Instead of seeing ourselves primarily as teachers, Conscious Collaborators inspire learning through modeling. We begin by deeply listening to each child’s curiosity and needs. From this connection, children learn more naturally, develop healthy values, and grow into compassionate individuals who seek to contribute to a thriving community.

What is the enrollment process?

The enrollment process at The Grove Learning Collective involves an initial inquiry, followed by a personal tour of our facilities. After the tour, families will complete an application form and submit necessary documents. Once reviewed, a meeting with our staff will be scheduled to discuss the child’s needs and fit within our community. Finally, families will receive an enrollment decision and, if accepted, will complete the registration process to secure their child’s place.
